Dornie Moorings Association

Dornie Moorings Association was created in 2014 with the aim of sourcing funding to develop facilities to encourage water based tourism in Dornie and surrounding area.

In 2021 the project stepped up a gear with the invaluable support of Highlands and Islands Enterprise.

Th association is open to all and currently has a a committee of 12 people from the local community.

Dornie Moorings Limited was formed in 2022 (company SC723404) and currently has 5 directors. The Not for Profit company was formed to manage the Pontoons and Moorings Project.

Should the moorings association have surplus cash at the end of the financial year we will work with Dornie and District Community Trust to support any community cause or donate directly to the trust.

Now we have bothe the Feasibility Stage completed and the Business & Financial Plan fully developed and approved; Our aim is to source funding throughout in 2023 to enable to commissioning of works to begin and the pontoons and moorings to be installed in 2024.

Dornie Moorings Committee is made up of local residents with a diverse range of backgrounds and skills, all with a passion for the water, Dornie & surrounding area.

Committee Members (A-Z)

Andy Blair - Andy has had a lifelong love-affair with the sea. Working most of his life in the merchant navy, Andy is also a keen boat owner.

Colin MacKenzie - Another lifelong Dornie resident. Colin is a local business owner & keen fisherman.

Darren Reekie - Darren runs a successful local building maintenance business & owns two boats he has renovated to a very high standard - Darren can turn his hand to whatever is needed. 

Douglas Jack (Joint Chair & Director) A lifelong Dornie resident; Douglas has always owned a boat & puts to see at every opportunity when not busy on his croft.

Duncan MacKerlich - Duncan is a professional fisherman, running a very successful seafood export business.....Duncan has too many boats & toys to mention!

Kevin Kitson-Jones (Secretary & Director) An experienced sailor with a family of boats of various sizes! Kevin has lived in the Highlands and now Dornie for close to 20years.

Leslie Gordon - Leslie, was born with a fishing rod in hand! Our local line fishing guru... what Leslie doesn't know about the surround waters ain't worth knowing.

Matt Baron (Joint Chair & Director) - RIB owner & diver; Matt runs a successful consulting business. 

Michelle Baron - A keen sailor, yacht owner, paddleboarder, kayaker, open water swimmer & accommodation business owner....this list goes on. Michelle has lived in Dornie for c.15years & only leaves to walk the hills!

Neil Morison (Director)- A Dornie resident for over 15yrs, Neil is a keen sailor, currently teaching his two sons to sail

Steve Reynard (Treasurer & Director)  Owner of a local construction business, Steve is an experienced sailor & diver.

Steven Gillies - Owner of multiple local businesses, focussing on boat building & hospitality. Steven is a local entrepreneur who is investing in redeveloping the local hotel as one of his many projects.
